Sunday at ACU Summit

I'm back.
I'm currently at the ACU Lectureships or rather ACU Summit as it is now being renamed or refocused. It's still the Lectureships but they are calling it Summit. Exploring Romans is the purpose of Summit this year.
Leroy Garrett spoke this evening. Leroy is almost 90 years old and did a great job speaking on the Righteousness of God Revealed Through Faith and for Faith. The funny thing about this is this is what I preached at Lakeside this morning. Leroy and I are mostly in agreement with each other. In fact he emphasised the importance of grace in God's gift of salvation. I liked one statement he made, "You are not OK because of selfishness and pride, and I'm not okay but that's OK because of God's grace."
He made another statement from scripture that made an impact on me in regard to how we ought to accept one another. He quoted Rom. 15:7, Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Then he reminded us that Jesus accepted us who are sinners by dying for us at Calvary. While you were yet sinners Christ died for you. What acceptance!
Another point he used that made me think was his comments on how we ought to deal with one another in regard: to essentials, seek unity, to opinions give freedom, and to everything with love. I like that, we need to constantly remind ourselves of this.
He also made the statement; when we leave this world we are not leaving home but we are going home. Excellent!
It was a great start. They are having a drawing each evening for an iTouch for all who register. I'm thinking of registering a 1,000 times tomorrow.
Debby is with me at these Lecturships and that is really cool. Talk to you tomorrow.
